Stakeout

2020 - CART 263: Creative Computation II,

Concordia University, Montreal

Stakeout is a short paired game and controller prototype exploring naturally mapped controllers and inspired by the spectatorial relationship presented in Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window. Presented with an ambiguous view of a dinner party through the telephoto lens of their camera, players can zoom in and take pictures of specific windows using a controller that mimics the winding of film, holding-to-the-eye posture, and button snapping affordances of a traditional film camera. The controller is built with an Arduino Uno equivalent board and uses serial communication to interface with the game built in javascript with p5.js. Full code for the project can be found on the Github repository here.
